conklin all american fountain pen review
The “All American” collection was offered in a variety of sizes, filling mechanisms and finishes with the aim of satisfying a growing market demand for good quality, but affordably priced writing instruments. I heard good things about this fountain pen and it seemed like the next level up from entry starter pens. There is an engraving on the barrel that shows how “Toledo, Ohio” will read as, “Toledo, Hoio” on a large percentage of the fountain pens. I’ll say more in a month, but it is a beautiful pen. It is a bit of a bulky and large size pen so if that isn’t your thing, I’d skip this pen. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. I like the swirl design of the shaft. Unfortunately the pen can’t be converted to an eyedropper-fill because of the metal threads on the back of the grip, though. Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2018. I like everything about this pen except that feedback. It is large enough to accept both short and long cartridges, and comes with a threaded converter (which is nice because it’ll stay tightly latched onto the pen when filling from a bottle). The reborn Conklin Pen Company does a very good job of making fountain pen barrels and caps. It’s likely that you’ll want to write with it unposted. I’d call it a wet writer (w/Noodler’s Bad Green Gator). Once you’re pretty well sold on the fountain pen idea, the Conklins are definitely worth a look. Available in nib sizes from extra fine to 1.1mm stub nibs, and the Conklin Omniflex nib, the stainless steel nibs are smooth with some light feedback, and write fairly wet (especially the stub). It’s going to be a comfortable pen for large-handed folks, similar in size to an Edison Collier. The rebooted All American is manufactured overseas, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California, and pays tribute to its roots with a “Toledo, Ohio” engraving on its nib and barrel. This is a fine writing instrument. I own several great pens and wanted to try something with a stub nib. Another reviewer seems to have had the same problem. The price is outstanding. Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question. The stub nib gives a nice chiseled look to the writing. Mine is a more orangey, golden yellow, and deep brown, than pictured. Pen arrived with the stub nib ground into a right-foot italic nib (suitable for left-handed people). I've previously only reviewed one Conklin pen - the Mark Twain Crescent Filler - and came away from that review impressed with both the looks and the build quality. I like how big it is and it's quite beautiful. Luckily, it seems I posses mad skills I never knew I had and I was able to fix the flow of the nib and also reverse the ill effects of the attempted nib grind. The pen, being a study pen, was okay except for some gunk and micro-scratches. The nib didn't produce a line at all when dipped in water. Love this pen! My first stub bib and it writes beautifully. The All American series is a large, cigar-shaped pen that fits nicely in the hand. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. That’s what happened in this case. It's my first resin pen in this style but the nib really gives me trouble. This, like my other Conklin fountain pen, is "wet", so it doesn't dry out when unused for a few days. Very bizarre. Product Review of the Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pens I have heard so much from customers about the Conklin Duragraph fountain pen and what a great pen it is that I decided to try one myself. The All American is a pretty pen with a cigar shape - one of my favorite pen shapes. Fits great to my hand (rather large) and most suprisingly - writing with it is really great feeling, letters are really nicely shaped, I just fieel like I'm almost a caligraphy master (and I'm not). I get it working fine but for me a stub nib is a novelty. Unfortunately whoever makes their steel nibs is not performing at the same level. After checking some reviews I decided to but this one. Now I barely write the pen.. Not worth the hassle!! The pen is a pretty good weight at 31g, and large overall. I enjoy the smooth lines and consistent appearance of the pen. The stub nib on this is not forgiving at all. It looks even better than on the pictures. The embellishments on the pen are pretty minimal, so the material of the pen really stands out. Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2020. I also like how big the nib is. Conklin is a pen brand that’s been around for a long time, though it’s a relatively recent addition to our store. This isn't a nib I'd use on an every day basis but with another nib I may like this pen more. BUT the last somebody who had this pen and returned it, had shoved the blue cartridge in and had tried to do some nib work on the pen. Even when it does dry out after sitting a while, it is easy to get it going again by twisting the filler post. There's a problem loading this menu right now.
